As we commemorate the 1st anniversary of the earthquake, please join us in renewing our commitment to the people of Haiti.

Even before the quake, Haiti was one of the poorest countries in the world. About 80% were unemployed and 60% were living in extreme poverty.

On January 12, 2010, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck the country of Haiti, just 10 miles from the country's capital, Port-au-Prince. There have been at least 13 aftershocks with magnitudes above 5.0, according to the USGS. At least one major hospital was destroyed, and the city of Port-au-Prince is particularly vulnerable to damage due to its high population density. Read more »
