Partnership with Nuru & 70 Kenyan Families

One Day's Wages is excited to announce a new partnership with Nuru International to provide support for their agricultural program in Kuria, Kenya.

Nuru (a Kiswahili word meaning light) is a compelling organization that has been working in Kenya since 2008. They are committed to holistic and effective approaches to community development and have a growing track record of achieving impactful results that are slowly but surely transforming the lives of rural farmers in Kenya.

Nuru is a unique organization for many reasons, but their mission to train and empower local Kenyans and become fully sustainable in their model of development has resonated with the vision of One Day's Wages. We're excited to come alongside them in raising funding that will allow 70 Kenyan families - with an average of 5 members each -  to enter Nuru's agricultural program.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the average American's daily wage is just over $200 USD. Here's the exciting thing:

Supporting an entire family's entrance into the Nuru agricultural program via a loan of seeds, fertilizer, and training on effective farming techniques costs $214 for one entire year.

Lastly, Nuru's 98% loan repayment rate means that nearly all of the farmers who enter their program have benefited enough to repay their loans and to likely have future years of successful harvests with the ability to profit from their crops.
