CURE Clubfoot Worldwide

Globally, 200 million children and youth have some form of disability; the overwhelming majority of these children live in the developing world. Despite the vast numbers and the great vulnerability that comes with being disabled in the developing world, the humanitarian community has failed to promote prevention of disabilities as a primary strategy for lifting families and communities out of poverty. Not a single MD goal is specific to disabilities but none of the MDGs will be achieved without preventing disabilities

CURE International has championed the cause of preventing life-long disabilities as means of improving the well-being of children, families and entire communities in the emerging world. And one of its programs...CURE Clubfoot Worldwide seeks to ELIMINATE clubfoot as a permanent disability througouth the developing world. It has proved long-term sustainability and is currently treating 50% or more of the infants born with club foot in many of the world's poorest countries...all for about $250 per child!
