MY CAUSE: My birthday is coming up this year, and I wanted to invite you to join me in making my birthday a little more special. This year, I am partnering with One Day’s Wages to fight extreme global poverty. A few months ago, I read a very impactful book called Half the Sky, in which I was made aware of women, particularly in Congo, who were under the constant threat of being raped. Raping and torturing women is systematically used by various armed groups of soldiers to intimidate communities. The cries of these women largely go unheard.

In response to this horrific injustice, I felt compelled to do a small part to somehow make a difference in these women’s lives. I’d like to ask you to consider donating your one day’s wages or any amount. 100% of the donations ( minus c.c. transaction costs) will go directly to women in Eastern Congo who have been victims of war and gender violence. $100 provides a Fresh Start Kit for a Congolese woman and provide them equipment to go back to their villages and begin to support themselves. These items may include a sewing machine, a goat, or another small livestock.

THE INVITATION: For my birthday, I am matching donations up to $3,000 for a total of $6,000 minimum. This amount can provide 60 Fresh Start Kits and dramatically change the women’s lives as well as her family. Together, we can change the world – one woman at a time.
