ODW Education Fund

The ODW Education Fund is an issue-specific fund that addresses the lack of access to education that affects more than 69 million children around the world.

By donating to this fund, you will be helping people in dire need to receive education that will provide the knowledge, skills and values that form the foundation of lifelong learning, professional success, and community prosperity.

Why Education?

Education is an essential aspect to international development and plays a crucial role in the fight against extreme global poverty. Education has far reaching effects. Among many others, the benefits of education include lowering child mortality rates, promoting gender equality, reducing child poverty, and increasing concern for the environment. Access to basic education is a crucial human right and should be treated as such. With education, individuals are able to pull themselves out of poverty, creating a sustainable and lasting impact on communities around the world.

  • 69 million school-age children worldwide are out of school. Almost half of them, 31 million, are in sub-Saharan Africa. (UN)
  • 163 million youth in the world are illiterate, 63% are female. (UNFPA)
  • An estimated 7 million HIV/AIDS cases could be prevented in the next decade if every child recieved primary education.  (World Vision)
  • It is estimated that it would take $10 billion annually to reach the goal of universal primary education. Americans spend $20 billion a year on ice cream. (World Vision)

We Can Make a Difference.

Universal education is by no means an unreachable goal. It does, however, require a collaborative effort among everyone involved to determine what will work best, how programs run, and how to keep programs sustainable over a long period of time. One Day's Wages has partnered with various organizations to tackle the issue of education in a variety of ways. From helping Building Tomorrow construct schools in Uganda, to providing vocational training with HEAL Africa, to providing transportation to schools with BMWEC, One Day's Wages seeks to help create sustainable growth and lasting global impacts through the increased provision of education.

What Can You Do?

Consider partnering with us as we seek to partner with small and medium sized NGOs and CBOs that are working tirelessly to give everyone the universal human right to basic education.
