ODW Health Fund

For the 1.4 billion people living on less than $1.25 a day, basic health care remains out of reach or completely unavailable. The ODW Health Fund seeks to address this lack of access to medical care in the developing world by funding quality projects on the ground.

By donating to this fund, you will not only be helping to provide treatment to those in need, but also empowering local communities to develop their health care facilities and personnel. Moreover, your involvement can help stop the spread of diseases through preventative care. We urge you to come alongside us as we work to make access to health care, a basic human right, a possibility for people living in extreme global poverty

Why Health Care?

The world's poor disproportionately suffer from ill health. This, however, does not have to be the case. Consider the following:

  • 2,000 African children die each day from malaria.  That is almost one death every 45 seconds. (globalissues.org)
  • Worldwide, there are 34 million people living with HIV/AIDS.  An estimated 2.7 million people were newly infected with the virus in 2010. (who.int)
  • 50 percent of pregnant women in developing countries lack proper maternal care, resulting in over 300,000 maternal deaths annually. (thp.org)

The statistics can be overwhelming. However, with sufficient treatment and care, these numbers can be dramatically reduced. This fund aims to provide basic health necessities and health care training to those living in extreme global poverty. By taking this step forward, we will be working to prevent deaths and suffering; as well as building the foundations for sustainable health care programs. This is also about increasing the economic potential in the communities by keeping children in school, and adults at work instead of sick, or dying from preventable diseases.

We Can Make a Difference.

A solution to these issues are possible, but it requires a collaborative effort between everyone involved to figure out what will work best, and how these programs will be sustained in the long run. ODW has partnered with incredible health-oriented organizations such as Nyaya Health, Mercy in Action, Spark VenturesHeal Africa, Partners in Health, and Mali Health. These organizations all strive to build and support sustainable health care facilities and programs. Ultimately, every step forward leads to a more hopeful future for the communities.

What Can You Do?

Consider partnering with us as we seek to partner with small and medium sized NGOs and CBOs that are working to ensure basic health care for all. 100% of your donation (minus credit card fees) will go to carefully vetted partnerships and grants.
