ODW Women's Empowerment Fund

The One Day's Wages Women’s Empowerment Fund is an issue-specific fund that seeks to address the many issues that effect young girls and women who are disproportionately impacted by extreme global poverty. By donating to this fund, you will help empower women to gain access to health care, education, employment; end hurtful stigmas and abuses; and hopefully through this we can be part of the pursuit of equality. Let's stand WITH the women and girls that suffer in extreme poverty, let's affirm their equality and dignity.

Why Women's Empowerment?

The United Nations Commission on the Status of Women has made great progress in the advancement of women, and the attempt to achieve gender equality since its formation in 1946. Yet, there remains plenty of work to be done. Although the issues that women continue to face vary by location, the struggle remains global. From educational inequalities and maternal health, to domestic violence and economic marginalization, women are faced with the violations of their basic human rights on a daily basis. This fund and movement is about recognizing these problems and working towards a brighter future. The Women’s Empowerment fund will help to provide women with the resources they need in order to obtain a greater level of gender equality in all areas of their lives. Consider the following:

  • An estimated 72% of the world's 33 million refugees are women and children.  (unwomen.org)
  • Every minute somewhere in the world a woman dies due to complications during pregnancy and childbirth. (unwomen.org)
  • Every year, more than 1 million children are left motherless. Children who have lost their mothers are up to 10 times more likely to die prematurely than those who have not. (un.org)

We Can Make a Difference

There's not a silver bullet to these issues. It will require collaboration across several different disciplines. But it's not a lost cause, together we can, and are making a difference. ODW has partnered with several great organizations that are working on issues of empowerment, such as: Heal Africa, UAOWF, Create Change, Mercy in Action, Transitions Global and Love146, with many more to come.

What Can You Do?

Consider partnering with us as we seek to partner with small and medium sized NGOs and CBOs that are working tirelessly to provide women with the resources they need in order to achieve a greater level of gender equality. 100% of your donation (minus credit card fees) will go to carefully vetted projects.
