Sahaya | India
One Day's Wages is proud to partner with Sayaha International through a matching grant to improve the health of the children and youth in the rural area of Andimadam in the Perambalur district of India. ODW will match the $4,600 raised through this campaign for a total grant of $9,200. By supporting this project, Sayaha will be able to bring improved health care and health education to more than 600 children. This project will have a significant impact on the children of Andimadam and bring about improved health in the community for generations to come.
Who is Sahaya?
Sahaya is a non-profit organization committed to making a difference towards improving the quality of life in developing countries. Through their volunteer efforts, Sahaya provides assistance to grassroots NGO's and CBO's that implement social development projects for the underprivileged.
What is the ODW | Sahaya Partnership?
In the villages of Andimadam, awareness of health-related issues and access to preventive measures is very low. Misconceptions about sexual health and puberty are especially rampant. At home or at school, parents, guardians and teachers are often not comfortable or not willing to explain these issues to children and the school science curriculum is not designed to address these issues.
One Day's Wages and Sahaya are partnering to bring improved health to children through education and health check-ups in the Andimadam area of India. We are asking supporters of Sahaya and this cause to raise $4,600 for this project and ODW will match these funds for a total grant of $9,200.
This project has two main objectives:
- Initiation of a health monitoring program for children.
- Education of health science and preventative health measures. [Learn More]
