Shave Angie's Head!
Why am I Shaving My Head?!?
Yep! You heard right, I'm shaving my head on March 26, 2011.
I am shaving my head in order to raise money to empower impoverished women to rise above. One Day's Wages is a fantastic organization that partners with non-profits to work towards ending poverty. The specific organization I am raising money for is their partner project Krochet Kids International. KKi currently employs women in Uganda to crochet clothing for the American market. This partnership between ODW and KKi is to start a new project in Peru. The revenue goes towards further employment/training, community development and education in these countries.
The decision to shave my head was based on my partnership with St. Baldricks. I have thought a lot about this decision and it is an experience I want to go through. A 24-year-old cancer survivor recently told me the hardest part of cancer was losing her hair. I know this will be hard for me to do, but this is an action I am deciding to take. I want to let these children know they are not alone in battling this disease. While raising awareness for their cause, I also want to raise awareness and funds for ODW's partner project with Krochet Kids, a cause I am passionate about.
My Invitation to You
So I am asking YOU for support. Both to support me in my decision and to financially support impoverished women to rise above.
Student supporters: I am asking you to give $5-$10, instead of going to Starbucks once or out to eat for one meal, to help empower women. This little sacrifice can have a huge impact.
Adult supporters: I am asking you to give $25. If 20 adults give $25 I will be halfway to my goal of 1000 dollars. I want you to remember that 100 percent of the donations go straight to the women and their families in need.
My goal is to raise $1,000. Please help me help them!
