Teri & Philip's Baby Shower For a Cause
Our Story
As you all probably know, Teri is pregnant and we are eagerly awaiting the March 30th arrival of our TWIN boys. This is a very exciting time, and we are constantly blown away by everyone’s support as we enter this new chapter in our life.
Being pregnant with twins has been a very different experience than the one we had with our daughter, Olivia. One thing we noticed right away was the sheer amount of time we had to spend in the doctor’s office checking up on the health of the babies, as complications are much more likely with twins. We have been so thankful for all the information and guidance we have received and have realized, on a deeper level, just how privileged we are to have access to quality health care and the ability to make the needed adjustments to keep our boys healthy.
In further reflection and discussion, we find ourselves looking at the world in which our children will grow up. We know that our children will undoubtedly encounter struggles in their lives; however, we also know that our children will grow up in a relatively comfortable environment. One where quality health care is near by, access to education is readily available, and vocational options are seemingly unlimited; one where access to clean water or vaccines is not even questioned. On the one hand this realization is comforting, because like all parents we want the best for our children, but it’s also heart wrenching because we know that these basic hopes seem to be unattainable dreams for so many people in the world. The numbers surrounding poverty seem overwhelming, but in reality the change starts with each of us taking that first small step to reach out and stand with those that struggle and are oppressed.
Our Invitation To You
So in this season of joy and new life, we want to invite you to forgo giving us diapers, onesies, bottles or any other baby shower gift and instead partner with us by donating to our campaign with One Day’s Wages. Philip has been working at ODW for the past few months and we are both excited about the work they are doing to alleviate extreme global poverty. 100% of your donation will go directly to sustainable projects that are breathing hope and change into people’s lives. Here are some examples of recent projects that ODW has helped fund: United African Orphans and Widows Foundation, Nuru and A Child’s Right .
We are so thankful for your love, support and your shared excitement, and we would be honored if you partnered with us in this cause.
Your friends,
Teri, Philip, Olivia, Landon and Liam
