Just graduated from Seattle Pacific University with a degree in Biology. Originally from Eastern Washington, but now consider myself a Seattlite (don't tell my parents). I hope to go to Medical School some day, but in the meantime, I am just traveling and volunteering, to figure out how I am supposed to navigate this world as a follower of Christ. Just trying to figure out how to love people.
Because I know and appreciate the people who are starting it. I also think that it is a great concept and I don't think we as Christians give enough to the poor (myself included). I also believe that this is a new and great way to use the medium of the Internet to connect and help people around the world.
Having witnessed poverty in Latin America and the U.S. I am convinced that there needs to be more organizations like this one. As we all live in some type of oppressor-oppressed realationships, the dehumanization of people can only be eliminated when the oppressors step down and yoke themselves to the oppressed. ODW may not be the perfect way to do that, but it is a step and maybe it will get people to start thinking about more ways that they can help the poor, the sick, those in prison, the widows and orphans, and in so doing help themselves.
