Organization Profile:

World Concern provides life, opportunity and hope to suffering people around the world through disaster response and development programs. They in a variety of places, but excels at providing relief in areas not serviced by other agencies. In many of the countries where they work, the people who live there face significant political or religious restrictions. In all cases, we seek out the poorest and most vulnerable.

World Concern's staff includes nearly 1,000 people, assisted by countless volunteers. 95% of World Concern employees are citizens of the countries where they work. By employing locals, it provides financial value so that donations can help more people. The background of these employees also allows us to better understand and overcome challenges faced on a daily basis.


ODW Partnerships:

 

Horn of Africa Relief Fund

World Concern has been working in the Horn of Africa for over 25 years and have continued to provide crucial aid to refugees and communities throughout the region, particularly along the border of Somalia. Their relief efforts include: Medical care to the malnourished, food and water cash vouchers and long term solutions in communities like repairing wells and implementing better irrigation systems.


 

Haiti Relief and Rebuild Fund

We propose a funding approach to respond to the cholera emergency and help address core needs to ensure longer-term stability for families. These aspects of assistance include:

1. Cholera prevention and tools for cholera victims
2. Construction and housing repair to get families off the street and into homes
3. Business grants to equip people to provide for themselves and reduce vulnerability to disaster
