Meet Arif and Sharin

“We walked 16 days to get to this refugee camp.”

When Arif’s daughter Sharin was just 3 months old, the military started firing rocket launchers into their village in Myanmar. Arif and his wife ran into the forest with their infant daughter in order to survive. “We were so hungry. We lost everything we owned including our home, land, and business.” Arif describes their life in Myanmar, “we have been persecuted for many years. They don’t want us to live there. They make it difficult for people to get an education.” He dreams of his daughter becoming a doctor. “I just want to do whatever I can to help that dream become true. I want to give her a better education than I ever had. I want her to live in safety as a citizen of a country that wants her.”

One Day’s Wages works with carefully vetted partners so that people like Arif and Sharin can find the safety, resources, and empowerment they need to have a bright future.

Join us in empowering more families like Arif and Sharin this holiday season.

We are a grassroots movement of people, stories, and actions

coming together to alleviate extreme global poverty

Rather than reinvent the wheel, we work with carefully vetted partners in the field to empower local communities. Whether it’s a young girl who no longer has to walk miles to collect water, a mother who can provide for her children thanks to business training, or a school that can now grow nutritious food for their students, our impact is far reaching, community focused, and always sustainable.

But we aren’t just about granting money toward issues of poverty, we also want to inspire people who care about justice to take action through simple generosity.
